Privacy notice updated: 31 October 2026.
Who is responsible?
Metropolis Bromley Ltd (company number 10123518, registered in England and Wales) operates this website and develops JanJar. For privacy questions, email support@janjar.app. Our publisher website is metropolisbromley.co.uk.
What information does this website use?
You do not need to create an account or provide financial information to browse this site. We have not enabled optional Cloudflare Web Analytics, advertising trackers, a newsletter or a contact form. This website may still involve technical information (such as IP address, browser information and request times) being processed by Cloudflare to deliver the pages, operate its infrastructure and protect against abuse.
Cloudflare Pages hosts the website and may process information in locations outside the UK. Cloudflare's applicable privacy terms and safeguards govern its processing; we will review relevant provider arrangements as services change. We do not use website browsing information to build advertising profiles.
If you contact us by email
When you email hello@janjar.app or support@janjar.app, we receive the information you choose to share, including your email address, message and any attachments. Our email service is Apple iCloud Mail. We use the information to answer your enquiry, provide requested support and keep an appropriate record of correspondence. Please do not send passwords, unredacted bank statements or sensitive financial documents by ordinary email.
Why we process information and how long we keep it
We rely on our legitimate interests in operating and securing this website, answering enquiries and managing routine business correspondence, except where a different legal basis is required (for example, handling a legal obligation or taking steps requested before an agreement). These interests are limited to keeping the website usable and responding appropriately to messages; you can object where the law gives you that right.
We review general enquiries and support correspondence after approximately 12 months, deleting information no longer needed unless an ongoing request, dispute or legal obligation requires longer retention. Cloudflare controls retention of relevant infrastructure logs under its own service arrangements; we do not set or claim an exact retention period for those logs.
The upcoming JanJar iPhone app
JanJar is not yet available to the public. Its documented design keeps account records, bills, payment history, contributions and payday information locally on your device, without a direct bank connection or developer analytics. Optional statement recognition is intended to take place on-device, using documents you choose. PDF and photo recognition remain experimental and some bank layouts are still being checked.
Planned privacy controls include App Lock, privacy-aware widgets and notifications, and passphrase-encrypted backup exports. Files you export may be stored by the destination you select, including a third-party Files provider. These descriptions reflect development work, not a claim that all release-build privacy, storage or recovery checks are complete. The app-specific notice and App Store disclosures will be reviewed and updated ahead of distribution.
Your data-protection rights
Depending on the circumstances, UK data-protection law may give you rights to access, correct, erase or restrict use of your personal information, and to object to certain processing. You may also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO). To make a request about correspondence we hold, contact support@janjar.app. Financial data stored only on your own device may not be accessible to us.
Changes to this notice
We will update this notice if our website services or information handling changes, and before JanJar's public app release. Check the date above for the current version.
